Dear Friends - Members of the MΕG community.

We are pleased to announce our first International MEG tournament. A two days - four games event is scheduled for November 20-21, 2021 in Athens Greece.
The tournament will take place in our club premises "Malliaras Schools - Malliaras, G., S.A., Nea Ekpaideftiria", Erechtheiou 6, Alimos 17455, Google coordinates: 37.91761, 23.71510.
The above event is initially planned for 30 participants tournaments but we will be more than happy to welcome as many members of the community as possible to enjoy good games.
All list have to be of 10000 pts covering the period between 1072 CE and 1453 CE (any region).

3 hours, plus 0 to 5 minutes (umpire's random choice)

Draw of 1st round at 9:30 (by pool to avoid civil conflict if possible)
1st game starts at 9:30 and ends approximately at 12:30
Lunch 12:30 - 13:15
Draw of 2nd round at 13:15 (by pool again)
2nd game starts at 13:15 and ends approximately at 16:15


Saturday social night
Anyone who wishes, can come to a tavern for dinner but must declare it Saturday morning to Theodoros Galanis (aka Thodoros)

Interesting sites to visit in Athens

For one day excursions outside the city

1)   Island of Aegina (about 1 hour from the port of Piraeus)
Take Subway line 1 (Green line) towards Piraeus. Get off to the terminal station Piraeus.
Then seek for Gate E8
Before you decide for this excursion make sure that there are tickets:  https://www.sf.gr/eng/

2)   Archaeological site of Sounio (about 2 hours)
Take Subway line 1 (Green line) towards any directions and get off to the station Viktorias. Walk to Mavrommateon 22 (about 3 minutes).
Terminal bus: Mavrommateon 22, Athens 10434 (37°59'34.1"N 23°43'58.0"E)
Bus schedule (From 8:00 to 19:00 every day): 08:00, 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, 16:00, 17:30, 19:00
Confirm from your hotel the bus timetable.

3)   Archaeological site of Eleusis (about 1 hour)
Take Subway line 1 (Green line) towards Piraeus. Get off to the station Thissio
Terminal bus: Plateia Agion Asomatvn 3, Athens 10554 (37°58'40.6"N 23°43'16.4"E).
Buss schedule  06:05, 07:15, 08:15, 09:15, 10:00, 10:45, 11:30, 12:15, 13:00, 13:45, 14:30, 15:15, 16:00, 16:45, 17:30, 18:15
Confirm from your hotel the bus timetable.


City tours

1)   Museum ship "Averof"
Take Subway line 1 (Green line) towards Piraeus. Get off to the station Faliro. Walk about 3 minutes to the bus station N. Faliro (37°56'40.6"N 23°40'01.0"E)
Take one of the buses: 217, A1 or B1 and get off to the Trokantero station. Ask for Averof ship (37°56'00.9"N 23°41'01.6"E)

2)   "Stavros Niarchos" Foundation Culture Center
Take Subway line 1 (Green line) towards Piraeus. Get off to the station Faliro. Walk about 10 minutes to the terminal tram station 'Peace and Friendship Stadium' or 'Stadio Irinis ke Filias' in Greek (37°56'37.3"N 23°39'50.2"E). Get off to the station Tzitzifies.

3)   Basic tour in Center (yellow line in the map below)
Take Subway line 1 (Green line) towards Piraeus. Change to Line 2 (Red Line) at the station Omonia towards Elliniko. Or take directly line 2 (Red line) and get off to the station Acropolis.
Then you can visit Acropolis Museum – Acropolis archaeological site – Kerameikos archaeological site (37°58'40.7"N 23°43'00.8"E)

4)   Second tour (pink line in the map below)
Take Subway line 1 (Green line) towards Piraeus. Change to Line 2 (Red Line) at the station Omonia towards Elliniko. Or take directly line 2 (Red line) and get off to the station Acropolis. Then you can go to Adrian's Arch – Temple of Zeus – Panathinaiko Stadium – National Garden – Syntagma Square – National Historical Museum (Old Parliament 37°58'39.4"N 23°43'58.4"E)


5)   Athens War museum and Byzantine & Christian Museum
You could visit Athens War museum or Byzantine Museum or why not both. They are both next to each other.
Take Metro line 2 (Red line) and change line to the Station Syntagma. Take the Line 3 (Blue Line) and get off to the station Evangelismos. Walk for about 180 meters to get to the Athens War Museum (37°58'31.7"N 23°44'43.6"E).

6)   National Archaeological Museum and Lycabettus hill
Take subway line 1 (Green line) and get off to the station Viktorias. It's about 400 meters to the museum. Follow your GPS: 37°59'21.0"N 23°43'54.9"E
Then from there it takes 30 minutes on foot to reach Lycabettus Hill Viewing Area (37°58'54.6"N 23°44'35.5"E).
Another solution is to take a taxi to get you there.

It's not necessary. Not so many tourists in May to have such problem.

Same Flight and hotel booked fo my wife and me landing tuesday 19th flight back Tuesday 26th
Many thanks for the tourist's plan will make good use of it 8) :-*

this will be my first tournament abroad with plane travel  ::), any advice on packing the army ? cabin bagage or highly padded box in he luggagges ?
DBM, FOG, I used to compete where i can drive with my car ( and plenty of stuff in the trunk )  , todate extremes were Amsterdam ( Netherlands ) , Toulouse ( France ) , Koln, Marksburg ( Germany ) , Genoa ( Italy ) ...

Cabin baggage and excpect the surprised look when they will check it  8)

At least it will not be thrown with your luggage in the plane .

Check the regulation for the cabin Luggage as it changes with each company and they can sometimes be pricky

Definitely choose the cabin baggage. In our case the airline company allowed one carry-on bag 56cm x 45cm x 25cm not exceed 8kg and one personal item (handbag or thin laptop case). I put my miniatures in a miniature-case with foam frames and I was holding it like a laptop bag.

Have done Historicon from the UK twice and IWC this year using this approach. If you can manage to add a tray to unpack your army onto even better.
