If a two-rank deep foot TuG is hit in the flank by an enemy TuG that is two bases wide and all bases start in the flank sector, can two of the flanking files fight in Charge Combat from the flank? That is, can one file hit the front rank and the other file hit the second rank, even though the one hitting the front rank now extends beyond the front of the target?

Please post a photo just to be sure.

Hope this works:

Cavalry unit begins behind the infantry flank:

Cavalry charges the infantry in the flank, hitting two bases.

Final alignment

Does the cavalry stand that hit the front rank of the infantry still count as a flank? Even though it began behind the flank, now it extends past the front of the infantry frontal base line.

"To claim the benefit a base must start with its entire front edge behind the line extending the front edge of the target file at the time it is moved."

So it is where the base (not unit) is when it makes its move that is important not where it ends (other than it must contact a flank/rear of course) - so in your example both bases that make contact qualify.

Thanks. That is how we have played it, but I have had misgivings when it occurred.
