Prompting a group through slowing fire.

A talented general orders a group charge of four TUG's. On the way in the units receive a varying number of hits generating slows on each unit. The general wishes to prompt through fire but only has two units within his prompting distance. As the charge can only be made as a group does this mean that any cards played on the two units within range would only be of limited value. Let us say that the two units than can be prompted both have one slow while the ones that cannot be prompted have two slows.

This is covered in the clarries - have a butchers.

So basically in a block charge the reduced range for prompting becomes irrelevant.

nikgaukroger

No, the general still has to be in range of the block. Whilst I guess it is most common for a general to be with the block (no doubt upgrading one of the cards) he does not have to be so in cases where he is not the distance between him and some part of the block is relevant - but he does not have to be in range of each unit in the block.

Can I hijack this thread to ask another question about prompting, please. Can you take shield cover and then prompt through to restore full movement, including removing the -1 for the shield cover? I thought so but I can't find it in the rules now

Interesting question as the -1 BW is described as a slowing effect in the characteristic.

Had never considered it could be prompted through - I'll await the answer with interest  :)

IHIOGA (ie Simon) that it is indeed possible and I have done it on many occasions when hunting down shooty types.

My understanding was that yes you can prompt through the slowing effect of Shield Cover.

Need to check the wording then as my understanding was that using Shield Cover had nothing to do with prompting through fire!
My belief was that the -1 for 'locking shields ' was an absolute and had nothing to do with the, if any, effect of the fire. And that is what I, and all my opponents when it has occurred, have played.

Yes for simplicity kept all slowing promptable. KISS

The wording is that it is a slowing effect.
