This week-end we were faced by a very dismountable kyrenean army. It is powerful vs cavalry indeed as it still has it's +2 for LS 2 rank deep, still negates the melee expect, CL, DC and so on . It also still has shield cover and shove ....not bad

But what is the right price of that characteristic . Army list says 5 but army builder says 10 so who is right ?

I just tested it on the army builder and it calculates it at 5.

It is too powerful or underpriced . And when engaged vs such an opponent is costly if cav or cats

FWIW the only time my Kyrenean hoplites fought mounted against cavalry, they lost.

Perhaps but they lost green on green or green on white the hoplites also having some shove in stock

Nikeforian Varangian guard - both lists.

So let me rephrase it :

Dismountable LS will not count as LS in 2 ranks for impact and melee but still count as foot receiving LS vs mounted DC, CL etc...

They keep "shove" and "shield cover"
