Are the Tsu troops referred to in the Early Zhou Chinese list (Mandate of Heaven 4105) comprising 2/3 warriors with dagger-axe and 1/3 archers combined in one TUG? Or in total there must be for example 2 x 6 base units of dagger-axes and 1 x 6 base unit of archers so that the proportion of 2 to 1 is maintained?

Regards,

combined into mixed tugs, the lack of tug size on the archers is another clue to the intent.

Ta, I thought that was the case but elsewhere it is quite explicit.

The other bit that confused me was that the Archers could be Combat Shy but not the Dagger-axe men, I had thought that a TUG all had to be the same and that makes me wonder if you can do that elsewhere. That is, in a TUG where there are differently armed bases all with the option to be Combat Shy or not, can you choose to have the rear rank Combat Shy and the front rank not?

If a characteristic is optional for all bases in an UG then all the bases must take it if any do - unless, of course, there is a note saying otherwise.

In the case of this list you can make the rear rank combat shy when the front two aren't.

Minor points saving.

I just wonder why there is no option to have those dagger-axe TUGS by 6 or 8, without the bowmen (one rank seems a bit useless) but with the added characteristic of "integral shooter" that so many other armies do have the benefit of! And so let the player make his own choice in the matter !

Just one of a range of 'head scratchers' in this problematic, extremely restrictive list. The two ranks of 'spear protection' is also unfortunate  as is the fact that the army has 9 compulsory units if you want 4 generals (many of which you almost certainly don't want)

Issues have already been discussed here https://mortem-et-gloriam.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2703.0

Unfortunately it's a list to avoid.
