IWC has been in Belgium for  some 15 years and will remain in Belgium  . But the European MEG Championship - not to be confounded with IWC - will be organised in Greece in 2023 at a date of their choosing . IWC hosted the European  championship  in 2020 and 2022  as asked by Simon  8)

Many ? you must be joking
We have now outside of UK :
Athens which is new
Rueil ( which barely survives and UK players would be welcome )
IWC
Liberty tournament ( new )

You cannot call that "many"

You miss the point. We have MeG World Championships, Individual World Championships, European Championships. We might be accused of MeGlomania 😄

Any excuse to have a weekend of games, Ray. The community is growing on the Continent and not everyone can afford to travel to the UK all the time...

Indeed, although by you mostly  ;D

I think we all get the comment about there being so many World, International, European and God knows what other grand Super-Duper-Euro-World-Universal tournaments, and it is a bit funny, you're right there.

The point I was making however, was that I don't give flying footsoldier about what it's called, as long as it is a tournament where we can meet other (foreign) players. There aren't that many outside the UK. You don't seem to realise what a barren desert the world outside your island can be for historical wargaming.
You Brits are spoiled in that respect. Cherish it, be a missionary, visit a European tournament!.
;)

Errrrrrrr I don’t know who you are but I’ve been to the last 2 (pre-covid) IWC. I’ve been to Finland, Greece, Spain and USA to wargame. And yes as someone who is involved with running 3 tournaments a year we are blessed in the UK with an abundance of tournaments. I believe we have 4 in October alone. The tournaments in the UK, open to all, are well attended and we push the capacity of some venues. I know this can be frustrating when non Brits try to buy tickets.

I (Huub) wasn't a MeGger yet in those days, Ray...

Funny how you don't pick up on the essence of my comment that we need more tournaments on the Continent, but seem instead to construe my friendly and open invitation to every Brit as some sort of personal slight to you, which it isn't.

Anyway, to get personal: Missed you at LGT, still haven't played you.

 :) :) :)

I don’t see the connection between you needing more tournaments in countries outside the UK and my comments about the names of three of the existing tournaments. As for Brits travelling to tournaments in countries outside the UK I can only speak about my personal motivation. If the host country is amenable to UK travellers, the tournament period is attractive, the tournament doesn’t clash with another tournament I want to go to and the overall cost makes some kind of sense within my hobby budget, then I would always consider travelling.
