Gamed with an old friend for the first time since the Virus from China disrupted our lives.
He took the position the when a unit of shooters rolls 1 Skull that equals 2 wounds so a unit that is 2 BW wide would be slowed by 2 BW.

My interpretation has been that a Skull equals 1 action and as such a unit that is 2 BW wide would be slowed by 1 BM of movement.

The roll of an S = 1
The roll of a Wound = 1
The roll of a Skull = 1
As such a 3 BW unit hit as per above would have a total of 3 hits and be slowed by 2 BW which is its total frontage. (my interpretation)???
My friends interpretation is that the total slowing should be 4 BW or if you will a minus 3 for movement.
Please clarify if a Kill equals 1 BW or 2 wounds for the purpose of calculating the Slowing Effect of Fire.
I hope that is clear enough and Thanks for your help
Finally and specific reference in the rules which I could not find would be greatly appreciated.

You need to look in the Slowing Effect of Fire section: Page 160 H2 - "... total number of Skulls, Sword & Arrow + S (total hits) ..."

So you don't count up the wounds - a Skull is 1 "hit" just like a wound or S. Therefore, you are right.

Unless "hits" is defined somewhere, it would be clearer to word it as "total non-blank dice".

Otherwise, it's not surprising if players with experience in other games assume a hit = a wound, so a skull=2 hits, wound=1 hit, S= 0 or 1 hit depending on whether it is a wound or not.

The wording on page 160 is "add up the total number of Skulls, Sword & Arrow + S (total hits) on an UG".  That seems quite clear to me.  Nowhere in the rules is a Skull described as two wounds.

I concur.
