A question for the hivemind.
Am I right in saying that only the Professional army commander has the option to float, all his Sub-Generals must lead a command directly? Thanks.

MADdaz

So can a Sub-General move between units of his own command?

Just for ultimate clarity, it is not free to do so but costs cards.

Hunter

Well for ultimate, ultimate clarity - a green card with a maximum 1 move per phase anytime in the movement phase or at 2.1 in the charge phase.

Not to mention that the general can move to not be with a unit at all or, indeed, be with a unit from a different command. Plus don't forget to mention the card colour upgrade each phase.

further question or possibly clarification

if a general moves to be with a TUG in (for example) the movement phase, then the TUG moves, can the general move again I have generally (ahh punnage) thought not

but that does make the moving of generals in the charge phase interesting - eg move general to tug ready to charge, then the tug goes off...leaving the newly moved general behind

The upshot of this is that the General cannot upgrade the card of the unit he moved to (in the same phase) if the unit moves from its current position: they can change formation in the movement phase but not trundle off: Or they can be held from charging but not use the Generals upgrade to get them to charge.
Thus, if you need to use the General's upgrade to do something (that includes the unit changing position) in the movement phase then the General must move to the unit prior to charge declarations. Argh, decisions, decisions!

This sounds as if a General who joined a unit during the pre-charge phase could not then upgrade a card to prompt the chargers through bow fire, correct? The general could play a yellow to remove 1 slow, but not upgrade the yellow to red and remove 2? Interesting.

I think the idea is that to use your upgrade to prompt through fire you have to move along with the UG/block that you prompted in order to qualify as "with the unit" to use the upgrade - and then that is your 2nd move in the charge phase and so is not allowed.

Correct as the general has already moved during the charge PHASE he canot move a second time during the same phase and so upgrade a card or go with the charge as he may move only ONCE  8)
