Hello,

Consider a mixed TUG made up of cavalry and infantry (such as Muromachi samurai). Can this TUG be in a block?

According to 9.3E, a block must "be made up of only infantry, elephants, or battlewagons; or be made up of only cavalry, camelry, chariots, or skirmish infantry."

This would imply that a mixed TUG could not be in either type of block. If that is the case, can a mixed TUG be in a block with another mixed TUG?

The rules seem to exclude mixed TUGs of this type from being in any sort of block, so I am just checking to see if this is the intent.

On an unrelated note, I just got my new boxed set today and it looks great!

Correct those mixed Cav and Inf TuGs have their own benefit but can't block move with cavalry followed by infantry.  They do however uniquely 'block' infantry and cavalry into their own unique way.

Cleary if they dismount then that would be different as now operating as infantry.

I find them nice in 9s Maximus and 6s Magna.  Haven't tried them in Pacto.

Report back how it goes as one of my all time top 5 armies.

so how do you use these then Simon?

Essentially at their best in chunky 9s moving as individual retinues.
As formed and fleet of foot I find them pretty nimble used that way.

That said I think. a list note to say that such TuGs can move as a block with other TuGs of the same mixed type might well be in order.
