Mortem et Gloriam SOLO PLAY METHOD
« on: March 19, 2020, 05:24:18 AM »
Given the isolation we are facing I thought my SOLO play method might interest many of you.

1. Use the cards. You will find this best as you can carry the pack with you as you move around the board.
2. Only deal cards for any floating general.
3. Gift floating general cards as normal to other generals.
4. Then anytime you want to make an action:
a) decide what you want to do in advance - move and troops.
b) THEN draw cards for the general
c) make the best move you can with ONLY those troops and put any cards not used back into the BOTTOM of the pack you are carrying.
d) place any cards used face down with the general
e) next time only draw cards remaining in their allowance
f) an allocated floating general card can be used instead of course
g) Apply to all actions - so in EoT deal any remaining allowance and see what you can recover.

You can see why carrying the card pack is best.

I find this gives me a nice Fog of War feel when playing solo.
I use in many CCC practice games.  Works for WW2, GdG and ReG as well.

Version with photos for you ...

It is best played with the cards as much easier to carry a card pack around with you when playing solo.  And works particularly well with Pacto.

STEP 1: deal floating general cards and gift them to generals.  Below note also a yellow card saved from previous turn.

So here they are allocated ...

When you take a go FIRST choose wha you want to do.  THEN deal remaining card allowance for the general and make the move if you can.  If you cannot do your preferred move, you MUST make a move with the BLOCK if you can or if not with at least some of there UGs nominated.  If you cannot do any you move play a card to do nothing.  All cards played go into your used pile face down at the back of the table next to the general as a record of how many cards from the allowance have been used up.

Below is me deicing I want to block charge 2 scythed chariots TuGs in Pacto.  But alas only 1 GREEN so had to go in separately in 2 turns as waves.  Single GREEN was used and placed at back as a used card.  Next time the general only has 3 cards and so on.

So your table will be very neat and your cards at the back like this.  A picture at the end of a turn with used cards face down. Same process for all actions including recoveries.

You will find it creates a lot of fun for you as the uncertainty is there all the time.

FOR PBS

1. Roll for invader as usual and make the sensible decision.
2. Start army marker in the middle of the map.
3. Deal the cards and take the best five from each player.
4. Turn over and move battle location.
5. Battle can go into any territory type of the defending nation.
6. Set up terrain as normal favouring the armies as best you can
