A good point about MeG is that a lot of different armies can be competitive.  For IWC I fancied picking something obscure and when my regular opponent, Lance, tried them out against me I thought I would give them a go.

The army I picked was commanded by 2 Talented Instinctive generals and 2 Ally Competent generals (I am a sucker for challenges).
The main army consisted of
3 TuGs of 8 dagger-Axe men - Infantry - Tribal Flexible, Average, Protected, Polearm
2 TuGs of 6 pikemen - Infantry - Tribal Close, Average, Protected, Pike
1 TuG of best cavalry - Cavalry - Formed Loose, Superior, Protected, Short Spear
1 TuG of cavalry - Cavalry - Formed Loose, Average, Protected Short Spear
2 SuGs of horse archers - Cavalry, Skirmisher, Unprotected, Experienced Bow, Cantabrian, Combat Shy

Each ally consisted of
1 TuGs of 8 dagger-Axe men - Infantry - Tribal Flexible, Average, Protected, Polearm
1 TuGs of 6 pikemen - Infantry - Tribal Close, Average, Protected, Pike
1 TuG of cavalry - Cavalry - Formed Loose, Poor, Protected Short Spear

The army has 13 TuGs - so a break point of 7.  Being Tribal with Instinctive generals it is not a complex army, it is of the point and charge variety.  The cavalry cannot evade so have to be used carefully.  The ally cavalry are really only useful for exploiting any exposed flanks.  Terrain is your friend against armies with close troops, open is your friend against loose troops.

Battle 1 - Against Qin (Ioannis)

I had had two practice games against Qin and won both.  I knew it would be tight.  In the end my opponent rolled well on the impact and those DC, Polearm troops the Qin have did too much damage.  I broke 4 TuGs and 1 SuG and was one wound away from breaking 2 more TuGs, but after the impact combat I was always behind.  Lost 15-9.

Battle 2 - Against Galatian (Donni)

In this game the terrain really helped me.  Two big areas of rough right in the center, extending to either sides deployment area.  This forced my opponent to deploy across the terrain.  My cavalry were able to defeat his cavalry and chariots.  My weight of numbers counted in the infantry fight as I deployed my polearms 4 deep. Won 15-6.

Battle 3 - Against Early Achaemenid Persian (Jason)

Jason really got the best out of this army. He cleverly used the combination of cavalry and infantry to slow my advance with cavalry charges whilst he shot through the gaps.  The cavalry then break off whilst the infantry fall back.  If he had been slightly more aggressive he would have got an outright win but he just ran out of time.  Lost 12-5.

Battle 4 - Against Early Achaemenid Persian (Athanasios)

Athanasios was still learning.  In this case I was able to get my infantry into his foot before I took too much shooting damage (still scary though).  Won 15-3.

Twice I had an ally start out as Hesitant.  In both cases it was able to recover before my opponent could really exploit it.
