The 3 factors or greater isn't one of the conditions in the rule book where a forced charge is instead free.

The QRS states "Don't have to charge  if >= 3 down in charge combat".  The problem is that this is not mentioned in the rules - it needs to be clarified by Simon.

If asked to umpire I think I would rule it as a Free charge.

1.3.1 on p. 70 says it's a free charge if it's directly ahead within 3BWs.

Indeed.  It's the stop that is free.
