As you are aware, competitions have been playing the 2026 amendments as part of the journey to a possible new version of MeG. After initial feedback there are two tweaks that we feel are necessary at this stage.
The first is that the S=wound effect for loose bow, crossbow, powerbow and slings at <=1BW should now only apply in the charge phase, so it will become <=1BW of the charge path. This will also apply to artillery KaB tests.  This is because we have seen some unhistorical moves with missile troops moving to 1BW.
Secondly, we are removing the melee claim for mounted Long Spear fighting 2+ deep ranks of pike. This was an omission, my fault, when the amendments were released.
We hope to avoid further tweaks but are noting feedback, such as the comments on Forts, for any revised version.
We will publish amended QRS within the next day or so.

It's at the best confusion.

I don't understand where we are going, so It's time to stop wandering with no cap.

Just the feeling to be tired, too many updates in very short time.

There was new beta test versions each year, now every two month, will get back to competition when the final version will be send for free to all players involved since the spartan days.

As you are play testing the proposed changes, I applaud you updating them when you find they have clearly missed the mark. If people are confused about the changes, they could do what we have chosen to do and play the current rules in tournaments until the draft changes are finalised.

On a separate but related point, I would be interested to know how you are finding the proposed changes to Spear, Long Spear and Pike. These changes appeared to be the only ones that were questioned by players at CANCON as the general feeling about the others was positive.

The changes to pike and spear have been well received in the UK and are a definite improvement. Hasn't been many games with Long Spear yet as far as I am aware.

Had quite a few LSp troops in my Akkadian army at BadCon (53 bases) and they worked fine. Just had to take into account the change to supporting files fighting them and the risks involved.

Moaning is our french national sport 😀
Rules have not changed ok, but in the IWC competition last we dignité play like in 2025, even if I' ok with the changes, next compétition in Chaniers we will surely play with 2026 amendements tweaks, waiting which month update will be used (just kidding).
Last friday we played a game (january update), next friday ( with february update), my bowmen won't have the same capabilites, so rules have changed 😉
And me still moaning ( no change in 2026 😀).

Wait, why? Shouldn't standing that close to archers without closing to contact be freaking dangerous?

(Surely shooting at a point blank flat trajectory isn't that greatly effected by whether the target is standing or charging?)

I assume PB shooting at CV,CM or CH within none MU still get a colour upgrade

Yes - it was not one of the tweaks so hasn't changed.
