Change "Dummy flank marches are not permitted."
Change "Two YELLOW cards may be treated as one RED card for determining flank march arrival."

The aim is to increase the chances of flank marches arriving earlier, making cavalry flank marches more feasible.

Example: A Mediocre General is flanking marching with Flexible TUG cavalry, requiring one RED card. They receive one YELLOW card.  They may retain the card.  In the following turn they will be dealt one card, but the flank march will arrive on either a YELLOW or RED card.  Alternatively, they can discard the YELLOW card. They will be dealt two cards but will need to be dealt two YELLOW or a single RED card.

Dont understand the problem you are trying to fix with disallowing Dummy flank marches, battles often have as many pyschological components as Tactical

Currently there is no penalty for selecting a dummy flank march (or three). All players might as well choose dummy flank marches on every game.

An alternative would be that any general selected for a dummy flank march (after checking for hesitancy if allied) cannot play or discard any of their cards on the first turn.

They used to receive one less card in turn one: why did this go away?

Whay about 11.A.2.3 . Cards may not be discarded by flanking generals except at SP1.1

If it is a dummy flank march then the general is not off table so that section would not apply.

That works for me, dont want to get rid of it as it can be usefull in shaping an opponents deployment

I quite like this proposed change!

It helps address the weird meta-problem Flank Marches run into when people hang onto red cards for future manoeuvres or triage, causing the flank march to get inexplicably held up off-table.

Dummy flank marches going away doesn't really bother me, as I can't think of a single game I've seen where the dummy has been effective.

If they see heavy use in other groups though,  it's not that hard to keep them as-is. They're not complicated at present, just a little gimmicky.
I fear that making the dummy flank marches costly, tough, undermines the one thing the dummy might be good for: making your opponent assume a real flank march is a dummy and blowing it off during deployment.

After a review with Simon this weekend we have decided to allow one dummy flank march.  A general allocated to a dummy flank march is dealt one less card on the first turn only.

So back to the original penalty 😀
