Here was tonight's oddball, patch of magic terrain containing Ashugari in loose order, my opponent sends in catafracts with long spears (I did warn him).
Why do long spear close order cavalry, charging into badly affecting/effecting terrain, still claim their spear bonus?
And they still get it in melee, so being superior, long spear, fully armoured, so are still as good as my loose average long spears.
Also, can I claim for long spears in two ranks, or can we not claim in bad going? Are we are effected/affected by the terrain, or am I reading that wrong?
In melee they get all their bonuses, so +3 to them, +3 to us for terrain...
Good thing my Samurai cavalry flank charged them to finish them off.

Because mounted Long Spear is deemed not to be affected enough by terrain to warrant losing the claim, for close order ones the penalty for being Badly Affected is deemed enough - lets face it, close order foot don't loose it either.

Magic Cavalry terrain is only Rough for close order troops, wheeled vehicles and artillery so your loose order troops treat it as good.

+5 to you in melee if in 2 ranks I think - +2 for the long spear vs Cv and +3 for opponent being badly affected.

close order foot would lose their sp factors if affected or badly affected by terrain

QRS is clear :

Foot pike and LSP apply their factor unless affected or badly affected by terrain

Monuted LSP  not

As mounted long spear is a mounting fencing/thrusting weapon.
Used by arabs in moderate terrain.
