The theme for the Sarisbury Green Wargame club event "Havoc on the Hamble" (on 11th May) is Myths & Legends. So, we thought a brief explanation of what this means for army lists might help.
For an army list to be valid, it must contain a Legendary general. The Legendary general must be named, the army date must comply with the life of the legendary general – and a brief (one line) justification for classification of Legendary must be provided. The Legendary general will normally be the C-in-C (the single exception being Achilles in the Trojan War Achaean list #1215).
The Legendary general may be an historical figure of legendary status (e.g. Alexander, Caesar etc), or, to make the choice as open as possible, may be any general considered by the player to be 'deserving' of legendary status.

As an example, using Bantu Tribes, list 5913 – the Legendary AC would be Prince Nyatsimba Mutota (Instinctive Legendary), dated 1450, and justified as from 1430 he founded the Kingdom of Mutapa, which became the the largest economic and political power in Zimbabwe for over 200 years. (Simples!)

Armies which may not have a Legendary general are not permitted. Here are some examples: e.g. Swabian League, Swiss as their Army Commander is restricted to Competent or Mediocre only.

Please send your list to me i.newell1953@gmail.co.uk by 20th April 2024.

Edward III (1312–1377) was the most successful European ruler of his age. Reigning for over fifty years, he achieved spectacular military triumphs. Revered by his subjects as a chivalric dynamo, he initiated the Hundred Years' War and gloriously led his men into battle at Dupplin Moor 1332, Halidon Hill 1333, Sluys 1340, Crecy in 1346, Neville's Cross 1346, Poitiers 1356.

Hope he will be acceptable

'Havoc on the Hamble': Myths and Legends 11th May

Hi everyone, our first event is nearly upon us and I just wanted to share some photos of the prizes we have for our 'Havoc' event here at Sarisbury Green Wargames Club (Fareham/Hampshire) on 11th May.

Appropriately, they are representative of some possible contenders for our Myths and Legends theme! In no particular order, we have Achilles himself, Cyrus the Great and Porus from the Murayan dynasty.  A strong line up 😊😊😊 We hope you like them!!

Thanks to the 15 players who are coming!!! 👍👍👍👍

Remember, our doors are still open for entrants to 20th April and our event has just one remaining place. So, if you want to learn, or fancy your chances and you can bring a Mythical or Legendary general with you: to head up your MeG Maximus 15mm army; just drop me a line: ian.carbutt@btinternet.com

Unfortunately, the files for photos of our prizes  are too large for here......However, you can find them on the MeG Facebook page.....Enjoy!!!
