Hi, I was listening to so account of the wars between the eastern Romans and bulgares, again and again they mentioned the Bulgarian palisades.
I can't see it on the list.
Why not including them?

An area where I don't have much knowledge.  Thanks, I'll look at it.

Don't suppose the piece you listened to was in English? Be interested to hear it but with my complete lack of other languages  :(  it'd have to be in English alas.

The old WRG "Armies of the Dark Ages 600-1066" by Ian Heath mentions use of palisades to block of valleys to trap Byzantine forces.

Thanks.

Seen other things from that channel. Pretty good as introductions IMO, generally sound history (in the ones I've watched where I know something about it already anyway).

The question is really whether the palisades were used in battle or more as a campaign strategy.

I always thought the Byzantines trying to break out was more like a Siege game than a straightforward battle. Would make a great scenario game

May well be the reason they haven't been included. When to include barricades in a list is a bit of a tricky one IMO.
