And is before the regrade is compulsory for the Hannibal in Italy army - that applies 216 BCE to 203 BCE. Probably not clear in Richard's initial post but thought it had been clarified since. Hence my banging on about 216 BCE onwards 

Other Later carthaginian armies it is optional.
