And is before the regrade is compulsory for the Hannibal in Italy army - that applies 216 BCE to 203 BCE. Probably not clear in Richard's initial post but thought it had been clarified since. Hence my banging on about 216 BCE onwards  :)

Other Later carthaginian armies it is optional.
