From 275 BCE How can you take the minimum 10 hastati and principes when the UG size is 4,8 ?

Because of the list note below the "From 275 BCE" section. The minimum includes triarii which can be combined with the hastati & principes for TUGs of 5.

The whole section is probably a bit clunky - if you can come up with something less clunky I'm sure RJC would welcome it as it is now the season for doing the 2024 lists  ;D

With multiples of 4 hastati and 1 triarii it is still impossible to get to 10 hastati.

There is no requirement to have 10 hastati (well, hastati and principes as there is no separate hastati line). As the note says "The numbers in the list reflect the total number of hastati, principes and triarii." so the 10 minimum includes the triarii which must be taken as 1 base for every 4 of hastati and principes. Take 2 TUGs each of 4 hastati/principes and 1 triarii and you hit the magic 10 - or an 8 of hastati/principes and a 2 of triarii if you'd prefer the latter deployed separately.

Yes, missed that note.
By the way, it only applies from 275. That means pre 275 you need 9 hastati and 18 everything else to a maximum of 120 hastati and 240 everything else. Was that intended?

Another problem with the list is inconsistency between

QuoteFrom 275 BCE - Legions comprising 2/5 hastati, 2/5 principes and 1/5 - triarii

and

QuoteNote: From 275 BCE a maximum of 1 triarii may be taken for each 4 hastati and principes.

Is it intended that you MUST take precisely 1/5 triarii, or you can take anywhere from 0 to 1/5 ?

I think probably the most mentally ergonomic way to go (from 275) is:

List the three types of TUG (separate h&p, separate t and combined) with "see note" in the max/min column for all

Then the note would be something like :

Legions can be organised in combined TUGS and/or  separate TUGs. The minimum total bases in these TUGs is 10 and the maximum is 120. Of these, exactly 1/5 must be triarii  (or: of these, a maximum of 1/5 may be triarii).
