on the Later Pictish list (3204), if you regrade your Best Protected Warriors to Tribal Close, do they go from Protected to Unprotected as it appears in the lists?

Yes.  There are different representations of Pictish warriors and conflicting opinions of what they represent.  This provides for two different interpretations.
