But do they dismount formed or tribal as in the list if we choose dismounted cataphracts they become formed ?

Unless the notes say something different mounted with the Dismountable characteristic dismount with the same Tribal/Formed/Drilled classification as they do when mounted.

I understand it but it is very counter-intuitive.

If you take them dismounted in the army list ( so before battle ) they get formed ! If during or at the beginning of the game they become tribal .. just seems strange
