I am trying to create a "templar" Crusader Army from this list.
My confusion is regards the Spearmen/crossbow units and "spearmen" units in the same list

Spearmen/crossbow units are listed as "Any or All"

Does that mean if I take this option you can can ONLY have have these mixed units on their own.... or can you have these mixed units AND spearmen units  in the SAME list


ie    3 X 8 units (4 bases spearmen with 4 bases Xbow)  AND  1 X 8 Bases of spearmen = 20 bases Spearmen


     

its in the list notes 'If mixed TuGs of Spearmen and Crossbowmen are taken, then the minimum and maximum number of spearmen is reduced by half the number of bases in the mixed TuGs'

so if you take all 24 crossbowmen as mixed tugs, you have no compulsory separate spearmen minima and can take a maximum of 24 bases of separate spears

Jerry. Just in case your working out a Later Crusade list for Ice & Fire in January. I have been told whilst you can take a Later Crusader army, you cant use the 3rd and 5th Crusade option.

Thanks for the heads up..but this is for a project I have been working on for a while, trying to reflect a crusader army with a knights templar contingent. Its not for fire and ice.
The wording is a little unclear as the option to have mixed units is a seperate 'catagory' within the army list, and I am trying to understand if you can have both the 'mixed' spearmen/crossbowmen along with a unit of 'normal' spearmen,  in my army
