Couple of Questions from Todays Game

A couple of questions arose in todays game:
1. In the errata clarifications it states CAN YOU DO A BLOCK HOLD EVEN IF SOME TuGS ARE NOT DEV CHARGER? Yes, play as written. The rules allows all actions to be block actions.  The definition of a block is defined on 105.  So are they in a block? Yes.  So they can do it.  It deliberately doesn't mention them needing to have there same characteristics. Usual if something isn't there its for a reason.

In our case can you do a block move M8 move in which some UGs contract but others do not as they would then not be in a legal formation.

2.  If a TUG of 2 bases wide and two bases deep h charges a TUG that is two bases wide and two bases deep deep in the flank are there two files fighting two files or just one file fighting one file?

The first point is covered by the •   WHAT MOVES CAN YOU DO WITH A BLOCK MOVE? item in the Common Questions part of the Clarifications:

Quote
•   In a M6, M7 or M8 block move that involves contracting or expanding, all UGs must perform the action and must remain in a block.  In effect this limits the action to two UGs.

Well actually, in the current document the "M8" is missing but will be added back in the imminent revision.

The answer to you second question is that it can be either depending on how the bases end up contacting.
"The Roman Empire was not murdered and nor did it die a natural death; it accidentally committed suicide."

To expand on Nik's response.

2.  When contacting bases in the flank, if you can contact two separate flank bases with your 2 bases then you can fight with both bases.  If you contact only one enemy base or contact with only one of your bases then you can only fight once.  Note also that you can align to the front corner of any flank base that you are in contact with.
