Hy,

I wonder why may the Lusitanian be melee expert while the Iberians may not . From what I read the Iberians fought in a "roman" manner or is it the other way round  8) . But still the Iberians had a heavy javelin that they throwed before entering melee with their swords ...swords that will be copied by the romans ..;so why do they have no melee expert units ? which may impact armies where they serve as carthaginians armies ...

Iberians do not get ME because ME does not model weapons or skill, it seems to model stamina or persistence or staying power (however one describes it) that Romans had but Iberian tribesmen seem to have lacked.Training? Experience ? Armor? Tradition? Romans kept fighting while others did not. Whatever that trait is, it's called ME.
Miniature Wargaming is the only completely honorable form of warfare ever invented by man.

But why lusitanian do and Iberian do not ? what is the difference ..just stamina when we know the Iberian had some serious clashes with the romans and the romans did not always win ..stamina ? That is a bit short

Melee Expert would make the Iberians to strong in comparison with other Celts and Germans and compared to the Romans./
The Lusitanians have no impact weapoon.  It gives each group a different character.

The question might be : are the roman not too strongh ? Each and every republican army can have it's fair share on sup melee expert ...
The romans dreaded the spanish and gallic cavalry but have better cavalry as they may be melee expert ..I wonder were the balance lies

Hy I know it is late in the year but having now at least played a trounament with those Lusitanian guys ( all available on MEG FB ) and having used a Later Moorish army last week-end my impression is that if you want to have a Lusitanian army on table for a tournament they should have the possibility to have short spear.

Bith Lusitaina and Moorish infantry had melee expert . I must be precise, the Moorish infantry does not have shooting capacity if melee expert.

The lack of short spear did amper the Lusitanian . I had to be extra cautious as I played Imperial Romans and Galatians.

Usually on impact my opponents would be on RED .

Equal on melee

And yes I did also assault or at least advance towards the enemy but never managed to get much points

My feeling is that short spear might have make the Lusitanians viable and so more usable in tournaments.

Just a question of balance

The Morrish infantry ( flexible I admit ) but with short spear was more able to sustain charges and it makes it a viable army.

That's all I suggest a better balanced army. Unless there is an historical reason that I am not aware of for them not to have short spear on impact so I just ask . They were renowned fighters, the romans did fear them and melee expert is good ! ( even the later scots irish have it ) but they lack the short spear for impact ( and the scots irish have it )  ;D

So would it be possible to consider this as a possibility ?
