I'm sure this is temporary blindness on my part and maybe the dumbest question on this forum, but I can not find anything in the rule book it where it states who the active player is on the first turn.

Primarily for the sake of my sanity, can someone tell me where to find it in the compendium edition?

We've been playing it as the invader is the active player on turn one, but that could easily be something I imported or transposed from 30+ years of other rules and games that are in my head.

On page 217 in the Glossary it defines the invader as the player who is active first.

It should perhaps state it in chapter 8.

Sorry Dylan .. funny to find the odd thing that is obvious to everyone who are players now but needed saying in Chapter 8 in big letters.  I've made a note.

Thank you Simon and Richard.  I definitely read chapter 8 a few times looking for it.  I never thought to check the glossary :)

I feel a little better that at least my instincts were competent.

We also wondered that, and couldn't find the rule. Been playing that whoever deployed first moves first, but invader moving first does make it a more interesting choice.

Yes I have been laughing at myself for that one.
Its funny how things so well embedded can get missed by all - me and 5 proof readers.

So just checking as this came up in a game this week.

I have the Updated reprint 2021 version of the hardback rules and and I can't find in Chapter 8 where the Invader is described as the Active player for turn 1 (though it is still implied in the glossary on page 217)?

Is this fixed for the Pacto PDF as I've yet to pull the trigger on that?

I know I know now, but I was about to ask a new question on the forum re this and just thought I'd do a search and found this 2020 subject.....

Perhaps this should be sticky'd by an Admin?

We'd done the pre-battle phase and we're already to go and in the 2021 reprint the turn sequence has nothing to say on the subject....

My Early Imperial Romans were invading so we went first and his chariots were the other side of the wood he'd put down.  Romans win in the middle and by the time his chariots turned up it was time to take the wounded chiefs home...

Great game but I need to worry about those pesky chariots.

In the Maximus and Magna PDF edition it is on page 23.  In the Pacto PDF edition it is on page 22.  IN CAPITALS no less.
