Pacto / Re: Pacto - Future Plans
September 02, 2022, 01:46:54 PM
this looks very promising, great!

the areas you're looking to change are the same were we feel pacto is lacking compared to maximus, I will need to playtest the changes a little before commenting on them. Block move changes looks interesting...

Another thing it is also missing currently in pacto is movement options for units engaged...  a unit engaged on the flank has no way to turn/recover, which is quite annoying.

Do you have a timeline for the first release (or a beta good enough for playtesting)? Like end of the year, half 2023 or something else?

MeG Italiano / Re: Players in Udine

hi,

sorry, we've just started and have no contact with other players yet :) . Unfortunately for us Geneva is a 7h+ drive, we're far off in NE Italy.

Hi,

when making a block move, it is possible to change the relative positions of units in the block (for example, if I have a block with unit A and B, I could move unit A 3BW ahead and unit B 2BW ahead so it remains in flank contact with A but with front 1BW behint ).

same question when moving a sug with a tug. For example, if I have tugA sugB moving ahead, could I use superior movement of sug to do a double wheel and switch from right to left side, ending as sugB tugA ? Or maybe if I have a column with SugB ahead of TugA, could I move it behind (or vice versa).

Either way, do moving a sug with a tug follows the same rules/limitations of a block move, or there are substantial differences?

(if I didn't made myself clear enough I can draw some diagrams... )

hi,

I have the same question!

I understand that missing slowing effect fire is balanced by smaller pacto units being more vulnerable to fire losses, but it would be nice to have the full range of prompted actions in pacto (including countercharge/intercept), if it doesn't break the overall balance of the game.

Player Discussion / horse archers, tug or sug
May 25, 2022, 08:58:06 AM
hi,

I see that some lists have the option to get horse archers as TUG and SUG:

Horse archers (TUG) Formed Flexible uprotected etc
Horse archers (SUG) Skirmisher uprotected etc

all things equal tugs are quite more expensive, but I fail to see a strong advantage in tugs here... they can be effective in melee if loose formation, but they're still unprotected and badly equipped for melee.

I kinda understand how to use Horse archers sugs, but not horse archers tugs... how do you use them? What are the tactics where their tug feature is worth its point cost?

List Queries / enemies for sassanid persian
May 20, 2022, 04:16:24 PM
hi,

I've been playing with a friend, I play imperial romans and he usually sassanid persian... I would like to build a second army to add some variety, so I'm looking for an army which:
- is an historical enemy of sassanid persian;
- is different enough from imperial romans, and makes for a nice game against sassanids (balanced and fun :) );

I'm looking into kushan/indian, but I'm open to suggestions :) .

hi,

I would like to assemble a nice indian/Kushan army, can you recommend some store/company for nice 15mm miniatures that are good for these armies? I'm from Italy so europe retail stores would be great! I love PSC plastic miniatures made for meg, but unfortunately they doesn't provide indian armies afaik...

thanks,

Player Discussion / rulebook digital version
May 20, 2022, 11:02:55 AM
hi,

i recently started playing meg with a friend, and we're enjoying it quite much. However I have a small issue: with other games I'm used to work on lists, game situations and rules when I'm not at home, and I use some sort of digital version of the rulebook (usually a pdf file) to check rules and stuff. With MEG I'm missing this, and it is quite annoying having to wait to be home to check the paper rulebook...

It is there any plan to release a PDF or other digital version of MEG compendium? The paper book is great but I really need a digital version (not necessarily for free, I would be ready to pay for it if).

As a side not: making the rules available online for free would certainly help with diffusing and promoting the game, and I'm pretty sure this would also benefit sales (of miniatures and rulebooks). Most of the miniature games I play have a free rulebook available online so people can try the game without having to commit to paying the book (or borrowing).

Thank you!
