All lists are checked and good to go so... I did an independently adjudicated draw with some confused work colleagues

Round 1

Ian (Neo-Babylonian) vs               Lance (Almoravid)

James (Later 100 Years War English) vs RJC (Mitanni)

Nigel (Rajput Indian) vs Ray (Arab Conquest)

Cid (Hussite) vs Bruce (New Kingdom Egyptian)

Robin (Eastern Seljuk Turk) vs Nik            (Lusignan Cypriot)

Looking forward to Sunday!

Yikes, Mitanni vs Later 100 Years War English - what could possibly go wrong for the Mitanni!
JA starting draw based upon army date might have produced some better match ups...

We could have used Jacques software. Did anyone pick it up at the weekend?

Not my point!  My point was that if you are going to run an open competition - don't randomly draw the first round, draw based upon the date of the army.

FWIW My view is it is always far easier to do a tournament manually instead of using a computer.

Richard

p.s. I am open to suggestions on how I fight a Later 100 Yrs War English with Mitanni.  I can't even hide up a forested mountain....

I wouldn't  be too worried I'm not that good!

Also you're far more mobile than most of my TuGs so can get around the sides

As its  a fun event I can promise  im not going to corner sit as that would be dull!

Horse Archers v Massed Crossbow !!!!! I do hate and I mean hate open type comps. Might be last one for me. Still at least I live not to far away so should be able to pop home for circa 3 hours between games zzzzz

You've been pushing for comps with a wider date spread for the past few months, so when you get one you complain because of the draw  :o

Its not as if my army isn't of a style that is contemporary with yours anyway - it's basically a crusader army and you could face pretty much what it is if the comp were just armies from the Crusades book or a date range around that  ;D

Always disliked Open. All Classical. All Early Medieval or all Late Medieval is my preference, well at least not Late Medieval  ;D ;D ;DAlso by not allowing Classical it rules out my Bactrians, Mid Roman. Late Roman. Foederate  Sassanids and Goths. Could have use Arabs but didnt think of them. Anglo Danes not yet finished since being Nerfed.

Aah all this emotion ... just go find a way to beat some Xbows.
After your heroics in Brussels shouldn't be too hard!  ;)
There is always a way in Mortem et Gloriam if you think widely enough.

Late Romans/foederates could, no doubt, be used for the Eastern Late Roman in the Byzantium book (which is not classical). The Sasanid list in the same book is very similar to the Middle Sasanid and the Goths I would expect to morph to armies like the Tolosan Visigoths, etc. which again are outside the classical set. The Baktrians and MRR I will agree are out but 4 of those 6 look usable in this theme to me  ;)
