5502 - Northern feudal French

I m considering to do the first baron war using the French.
They have no feudal English allies in the main list.i understood Louis the Lion got real local supporters
How should I proceed?

Treat it as a Northern Medieval French army with an internal ally or two and downgrade the allied Knights to Average.
