Whilst waiting for lists to check for Skulls I was idly pondering the number of completed games we get in competitions in MeG in the "standard" 10k maximus format with games of 3 1/4 hours (usually, occasionally 3 hours or 3 1/2 hours). Completed game being one where at least 1 army is broken - so games with a score of 15-X or 12-12 when there is a mutual break.

From time to time I've checked the scores here in the UK and we seem to get a range between 66% and 80% completion rate - with around 75% being pretty common. Hardly a scientific approach but gives a reasonable indication IMO.

Wondering how that compares with other areas experiences.

Also gets me wondering what the average score in games is.

Pretty difficult to say as it also depends on the army being played, the level of the player and of his opponent.

Average score for games in a comp is easy enough to calculate just a bit tedious - its just the total scored by all players divided by the number of person games.

So for a small sample of comps (as I have a bit of time) we have:

Derventio - 9.36pts/player/game

Chariots of Fire - 9.81pts/player/game

Britcon - 10.31pts/player/game

Helvetica - 8.59pts/player/game

Rueil - 7.73pts/player/game

Now whether this tells us much may be moot - suspect at best it may indicate how inclined the players were to get stuck in at those comps. But what the heck, its just idle speculation  8)

What is the definition of a complete game? does a game have to have a 15-x winner to be completed?
Why would ties or indecesive game not be completed games?

Using this as the aim in a competition game* is, IMO, to break the opponent and to score as many points as possible to do as well as possible in the competition.

On the continent, as we have less tournaments 5 counting Grand Helvetika, games are often slower as people do not know the rules ( due to lack of games )

If you want all the Belgian results were sent so should be available

So, funnily enough: for the last couple years, I've been tracking army W/D/L rates for tournaments and mini-tournaments that my local club participates in! (For my own curiosity, mind you)

Of the 60 games I have recorded, 75.8% ended in Triumph/Rout.
I have a hunch some armies will generally be less prone to finishing games, but RN I can't be bothered digging into it.  ::)  Sorry!

We just finished MOAB 8 players 4 Games AVG 8.4pts per player/game

It is a very casual tournament, I think
