I want to confirm that my general may leave his command and join a UG of another command and engage in combat. I believe this is allowed as rule

2.B.11. A general may only have one of two locations – a) with a file (not rank) and therefore with
that UG (and at an angle if the general is in combat), or b) standing alone and therefore not
with any UG. A general is displaced if contacted by UGs.

There is no specification that the UG the general is with is part of his command.

Further
2.B.12. A general may move on their own or with an UG they are with if it moves (regardless of
which general prompts that move).

This implies they can be with an UG not in the command and prompted to move by the UG's general and vice a versa.

2.C. 4. Even if all the UGs in a command are lost, a non-allied general can still join an UG in another
command and fight, and if professional, still prompt actions. An instinctive general may use
cards to move themselves or a mobile camp.  The general may also discard cards.

While this relates to a general who's command is lost it suggests a general can join UG;s not in his command

Thanks

They may join any UG and, unless an ally with an non-allied UG (or vice versa), fight.
