From my understanding the UGs of an hesitant ally do fight during charge and melee as "combat shy" but the fight. Those who can may skirmish or run away and so shoot at chargers. The shooters may shoot backif shot at

Now : may shoot back  only at the shooters who might be outside the right angle or shoot back at any enemy TUG in range ?

Infantry mostly loose or flexible  poor bloody loose crossbowmen, bowmen, powerbow, skilled, experienced and unskilled javelin..may they shoot at the UGs charging them or do they patiently wait for impact as they cannot skirmish, nor run away ?

It's not part of the cases so what's the intend

It may be poor wording in the rules but the only time you shoot is at those that shot at you 'shoots back normally at UGs shooting at it ' so although you may skirmish or run away you dont get to shoot unless they were shoot and charge troops that shot at you, same for your missile armed troops standing to receive.

that may not be the intent obviously but as written.

As skirmishing and run away include shooting in their process I don't think you can rule out hesitant troops making those allowed responses shooting.

That then raises the question: if they were not allowed to shoot and they skirmished/ran away, do they count  in the charge combat as having shot?

nikgaukroger

If you skirmish/run away you always count as having shot regardless.

My point ( badly written ) is : you may skirmish or run aways so shoot at the chargers . But loose foot bow ( any foor missile focused ) seems not to be allowed to shoot at chargers whichtargets them or enters the one MU area  which seems rather strange ! Being hesitant is one thing. Passive another thing

So should it not be adapted ?

So I got my answer : foot missile focused TUGs cannot shoot at their chargers  ;D
