The MeG Podcast team with a special guest discuss terrain, how it works in MeG and how we represent it on the table.

The usual team of Richard Jeffrey-Cook, Matt Haywood and Nik Gaukroger were joined by Paul Stovell to have a wide ranging conversation about terrain in MeG.

The episode can be found at - https://themegpodcast.podbean.com/e/the-meg-podcast-series-4-episode-7-terrain/

Hopefully this discussion is informative and gets players thinking about how terrain works and is used in MeG, as well as how we represent it on the table.

As always, feedback and suggestions for further podcasts are very welcome

I do not question the quality at all but the length .Would shorter episodes, 45 minutes not be more attractive ( I speak from my Public Relation studies ) . When I open the link and it say nearly 2 hours of discussion I just wonder if I have that time .

Keep on

For me absolutely and definitely not! I paint while listening so very much prefer the longer episodes. I also don't mind listening to the podcast over multiple sittings.

I agree with you that if you are trying to get a particular message across or impart some important information, shorter is better. However, I regard this podcast format as more of a 'pub discussion' among mates and it works for me. Yarkshire Gamer is another podcast in the same vein and it is another favourite. Conversely, I also really enjoy 'Anything but a One' even though those guys keep it short and sweet. But at least in the latter case, they put out more episodes!

I guess it comes down to personal preference and your view is as valid as mine. However, my vote is to keep to the longer episodes. Regardless, thanks to Nik, Richard and Matt and please keep up the good work!

A lon pub discussion ...well it could be broken down in 2 or 3 separate themes for people to listen to it. But that's up to other people to decide

If the aim is to reach towards younger players...short is the way and 45 minutes is already too long

By the way my problem with MEG ( and REG ) terrain is the 4 BW wide . I do have a lot of "nice" terrain, not felt but they are mostly 2,5 or 3 BW wide . Nice hills, ravines and so on ...but not really usable any more as not legal  so I did not buy new and costly terrain. Felt is nice and cheap .

I like the format as is. I travel long distances and I like the way it is. My only critique would be the audio levels. I had to turn my audio up to hear Paul and then RJC nearly blew my windscreen out.
My argument for contoured hills wasn't really explained, I wasn't recommending them because figures stand on them easier, rather to determine advantage of ground like we did in moderns. If you are on a different contour you are higher. If you are on the same, you are not. Unless you draw on your hills the current method is clunky.
