MOVING CHARGERS
« on: May 21, 2024, 11:21:56 AM »
1TuG of CV (with 5 bases) vs 2 TuGs of BW
       CC
     CCC
BBB
BBB

      BBB
      BBB

CV charge straight ahead the nearest BW
In the shooting at charger phase the BW kill the CV in front of them

What's happening
1) the CV stops at the corner of the BW
2) the CV reorients its charge direction towards the BW
3) the CV continues straight and hits the other BW (can they shoot)
4) ? other solution

P70 5.N 3
“Chargers will move in the direction marked”
P69 5.M 2
“So, in Mortem et Gloriam “revealed shooters” do not fire”

I'm a bit lost
Thanks for your help

I don't believe the rules explicitly cover this situation.
I assume that the TuG nearer to the chargers does not evade.
If so, there is no provision in the rules for the chargers to change their charge direction - so they will end up charging the TuG that is further away.
Because the nearer TuG stood to receive the charge, the charge path does not extend, so the TuG farther away cannot shoot.  It will stand, skirmish or run away depending upon troop type or player choice.

If I am wrong I am sure someone will point it out!

Nope, you got it right.

Think I've only seen this once or maybe twice - the chargers miss their target due to a base being shot away  :P

If the second TUG of BW did not exist and the file with one base of Cv was shot away, then the Cv would make a charge move that would pass the the TUG of BW that shot at them and finish contacting nothing at the adjusted move distance for the charge move (assuming the direction of charge was straight forward)?

As the rules are written, yes.  You might see it as a case of the shooting being so effective that the chargers decide to veer off away from the shooting  (there are descriptions of this sort of thing happening, one of the English-Scottish War battles for example).

A very unusual situation, so not one I would lose sleep over.
