New Kingdom Egyptian - Red Copper 3d printed figures
« on: October 26, 2023, 01:37:52 PM »
Done my first unit of a New Kingdom Egyptian army using the 3d printed Red Copper figures.

I'm definitely happy with how they have come out. As expected from 3d printed figures they needed a bit of dry brushing after my usual colour + wash approach, but not much. Of course, NKE are fairly easy to paint anyway as they have basic dress, etc.  ;D

Did have a couple of breakages along the way, the resin is a tad brittle and at 15mm some parts of the model can be quite thin. Snapped off a couple of khopeshes and one figure at the ankle - however, a small dab of superglue gel and they were sorted in no time; repairs are easier than metal. Will just need to avoid being clumsy when using them, but bases help with that.

Nice work Nik.

I have to say that after an initial burst of enthusiasm for printed figures and buying a bunch of STLs, I have gone a little cold on the idea for exactly the issue you mentioned. While the figures look great, I have concerns over their durability. Getting the right resin is clearly important so I am hopeful my concerns will be misplaced.

if it is with TGM-7 it should be ok, not more brittle than the 28mm Plastics that most gamers use now.

Funny you should say that. I was thinking of my Victrix Romans when I wrote about the Resin. The Romans are great looking but fragile.

Red Copper Egyptian chariots to go with the infantry done previously. 15mm of course.

All the units have turned out well IMO and so I'll be pressing on and doing the whole army. Think I'll be doing it as 20th dynasty so will include various Libyans and Sea Peoples colonists/mercenaries - so think Ramesses III onwards  ;D  . Red Copper do figures for it all more or less.

Not much these days, and not on these other than the chariot horses tails.

Pharaoh in his chariot. Most likely to be fielded as Usermaatre-Meryamun Rameses-Heqaiunu a.k.a. Rameses III.

15mm Red Copper 3d again (obvious by now  ;) )

Standard bearers are from the command group. Adding them makes for a busy base but makes it clear who he is  ;D

Some more of those Red Copper 3d printed chaps. 15mm Sea Peoples this time. To be colonists settled by Ramesses III following his victory in 1178 BCE (ish depending on your chronology choice   ;)  ).

Colours on the clothing based on those at Medinet Habu.

Think I've improved the picture quality a bit too - by actually using a setting I thought I had been on my new phone  :o  ::)  Let me know.
