Elephants in rocky ground

To resolve a dispute from a game last night:

How far do elephants move in rocky ground, which they count as good going?

I would say that if it is counted as good ground, it would move at the good ground value which is 4.

Agreed.  Elephants in good going move at good going speed...

as a slight aside to the primary question, do elephants in going they count as good going push back Sugs on a second march move and can Sugs in going elephants count as good choose to stand if charged?

Pushing back enemy SuGs - it is whether the TuG is affected or badly affected by terrain - not if it is good going.

SuGs standing in combat - it is only the elephant that treats it as good going - so the skirmisher can choose to stand.  (SuG can of course stand if the TuG is within a base of breaking).

But for the charge would the SUG have the opportunity to stand ( some people are suicidal ) or must it skirmish/run away as everyone is considered in open terrain ?

Pg 65 only specify that SUG may accept the charge if in rough or difficult terrain but it's not as precise as pushing back .

The SuG is not in open terrain, though. It just isn't "affected" by being in whatever rough or difficult terrain it is in.

Could do with clarification, though, as one might suspect the skirmishers would take into account the effect of the terrain on the charging enemy, rather than on themselves when deciding whether to hang around or not. Consider also skirmish camelry in sandy ground or dunes. It's not intuitive that they are the only skirmishers who cannot stand when charged. 

I'm reminded of those memes:  The terrain I think I'm in. The terrain my opponent thinks I'm in. The terrain I'm actually in.

you may wish to alter the QRS then which says 'Enemy SuGs in good going contacted by a TuG in movement phase are pushed back by first moves'

What's interesting is that we mostly did play it wrong or misunderstood the rules .

So if the terrain is "rough" even if the charger does consider that terrain as good going or that terrain does not have any impact on it ( loose in rough) , the SK could choose to stand as the terrain definition is "rough" .

That's not so clear in the rules but OK now it has been explained
