Pacto Deployment

I played my first two games this weekend. When I watched the Pre-Battle video tutorial (Romans and Sassanids) I am fairly sure I saw Simon place a heavy infantry on the Sassanid side way back near the elephants and some trees and much further than 6 BWs from the center line. Am I missing something that allows TUGs to be placed outside the normal zone? If I have a ton of Roman Legionaries and Cav, all TUGs, am I basically setting up a big box of TUGs all in rows? Otherwise, given the BW for Pacto, you can only have six legionary TUGs on the front line before you have to place them behind. Just seemed crowded in there.

Thanks!

Assuming I understand your question - 6 BW from the centre line is the furthest forward from your rear table edge you can deploy UGs (unless in ambush) - they can be deployed as far back as you like.

I think I understand now. I read the "center line" to be the verticle line, so that the UGs could only ever be a total of 12 BW wide, and within 9 BW of your edge. But the 6 BW and 9 BW here are referring to the same thing: how close the armies can deploy to each other. Otherwise I can deploy anywhere in the whole center sector.

This was very confusing for me and my friend, and we both read it like 10 times just shaking our heads! Legendary Generals indeed.

I had this same confusion. I think it is because the depth of the board isn't spelled out explicitly (that I could find) so it sounds like 9bw forward from the back edge and 6bw from the Center are different measurements even though it is the same measurement.
