Using Impetus Bases in MeG

Gents,
I have 2 questions regarding playing MeG with Impetus bases, approx the same as 2 DBA bases X 2 DBA bases

Q1  -  Does it work best using the bases for Pacto, Magna and MAximus, how many bases do you count the Impetus base as?

Q2  -  If for example you count an Impetus bases as 4 bases 2X2 then I can see you can markk off wounds and casualties quite easily, BUT what about more complex issues like turning end files to the flank, files on the end pf a charging TUG moving on an additional 1BW if they can then meet another enemy TUG?  Whilst you can put markers on a large Impetus base to represent losses how do you represent all the file direction variations that are possible if you are using more common DBA type bases?

So Simon has a video that covers this very topic and gives Impetus examples.

I did decide to convert my Impetus bases to MeG (can still use for Impetus - just uses more figures now though). Though I really didn't realize what an absolute pain that is! :o
For 28mm I think Impetus works best for PACTO using two bases to represent a 2 base unit. That way you can mark one wound and remove a base with a skull.  You need a pretty darn big table as the BW is now 120mm (double) - say an 8x6 table.
[I bought a mousepad map 6x3 and cut a 2x3 for my 15mm PACTO and a 4x3 for my 28mm PACTO and also have a separate 6x4 for my 28mm Magna as rebasing made this more flexible]

For 28mm MAGNA I would consider using 1 Impetus base as a four base unit. The only difficulty is that as you remove rear ranks with the first two skulls you won't be able to adjust the depth. You could use a skirmish base if you put the correct amount of figures on it I suppose, but not useful then for Impetus. So a 6 unit pike block would be 1 Impetus base plus an Impetus skirmish base in the rear.

Maybe someone has a better suggestion for Magna and Maximus?

Wouldn't the BW be 60mm in PACTO if the unit frontage is 120mm?
Pacto in 15mm uses 20mm BW for 40mm unit frontage, correct?

Great thread, I've been thinking about this!

I actually prefer to play 25mm Pacto using 40mm rather than 30mm as the BW measurement even though the bases are 60mm wide. (Yes I no it is slightly illogical).  It actually seems to work better.  I started doing it as I had 40mm measuring sticks but no 30mm measuring sticks and I found I preferred it.

I am confused about the pacto army lists. If a pacto TUG is 2 bases is that generally 2 bases side by side or behind each other?

I think i will go with Magna and use an impetus bases as a 2X2 unit of 4 bases.  I think it would be messy trying to carry out redressing ranks and turning individual bases within a TUG to face flank or rear if the actual unit of models are all on 1 base, but I think with a few markers I will manage?

In Pacto. all UGs are 1 file wide, 1,2 or 3 bases deep.

In Magna, UGs are normally 4 or 6 bases and must be a minimum 2 files wide.  Magna should work fine with Impetus basing.

thanks I am very keen to give it a go
