Hy

It is not the first time that when I check an army list I find out that sometimes the cost on the excel is just one point higher than in the book.

Latest exemple Alexander's companion . The cost of them with melee expert should be 193 points but on the sheet it is 194 points. A few points that can make a difference .

So for list checkers just check twice  8)

I allow those few points to be spent even if it goes over 10000 on the sheet .

It has been stated a number of times that where there are such differences the army builder cost should be taken as the correct one.

Of course you can do what you like in your comps but I suspect that your approach will be unique.

Ok I was not aware of the decision to say excel sheet is always correct so will correct myself

It is even in the introduction of every list set!

What introduction?

I just use the search function to get to the list I'm interested in as quickly as possible.

You and 90% of the other muppets out there - it is actually bloody annoying, especially when the same people make the same errors that reading it would sort out even when you've pointed the section out to them.

Somebody is going to get a pollaxe to the face fairly soon over this  >:(

Nik's theme tune for every time he does list checking:

t's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight...

After my trip last Saturday I am doing a fairly good impression of Kermit in that my eye is turning an interesting shade of green....

As I recall the intention of having points at all in the lists is just to make it easier to understand how expensive units are at a glance without having to punch them into a sheet, rather than to replace the need for the sheet.

lionheartrjc

The purpose was two-fold.  1.  To help anyone who cannot use spreadsheets.  2.  To help players see at a glance the costs of units without having to type everything in.

Because the formula for working out the points involves multipliers that are not whole numbers for different elements of the calculation (0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.65, 0.67, 0.8, 1.1, 1.25, 1.35, 1.4, 1.7, 2, 2.3) rounding is inevitable.
