Page 113 J: 3/3.1 Question:

An UG of short spear protected formed loose infantry in open terrain advances directly ahead (White Card) towards an enemy UG that is 3 BW directly ahead.
There is no shooting so now slowing down the advancing UG which can normally move a maximum of 3 BW.
The advancing UG is NOT crossing the CPZ of the enemy UG (Not moving in a horizontal direction) since it can only move straight ahead.
IS the moving UG required to ALWAYS stop 1 BW away from the non moving UG because of the CPZ or can it continue moving 2.999 BW till it is just short of contact with the enemy UG.

This is a matter of Language since I am unsure as to the meaning of crossing as opposed to my use of the term moving directly through aka directly ahead.
I hope this is reasonably clear.

The only thing you are not allowed to cross when advancing into a CPZ is the line extending the front edge of the file creating the CPZ - J 3.1

You are not required to stop 1BW away and can advance until you are a gnat's todger away from the file causing the CPZ.

You can, off course, go much closer than that. A Gnat's baw hair comes to mind. Perhaps that is a Scottish thing though .......

hmmm...can't find todger or Scottish baw in the rulebook, are these troop types or characteristics ?
Nor do I find it in the native army lists of Britain...
