Ethelred the Almost Ready

Hi, I am new to this forum and have so far only played a couple of games of MEG with my 28mm figures.   I want to use the rules for large scale battles and to have the look of massed armies.
I am tossing up between 10mm and 15mm figures.  The aim to to do a fairly quick paint - again, going for a massed look rather than individually pretty figures.
I am playing solo mainly and if playing against others I will be proving both armies.
10mm will allow up to 10 figures on a 40x20 base (two ranks of 5).
I am unsure whether only four 15mm figures on a base will give me the mass I want.  Can a second rank of figures fit on a 40x20 base?
I suspect they won't, my Napoleonic miniatures are 18mm (Eureka) and need 25mm for two ranks.
If I did go with deeper bases (25mm) would this affect the mechanics of the game much?

So far I love the rules and look forward to contributing here in the future.

Deeper bases would have little effect - just take up a bit more space.

A base depth of 30mm, for infantry, would have very little effect on game play and allow for the massed effect that you desire, in either scale.

Thanks for that.  Decisions, decisions...............

The short answer is : If you keep tha 15 mm basing, you will be able to play with any other MEG player without any problems . Now 10mm or 15 mm is really up to you  ;D

Some players use their 10mm vs 15mm armies, dwarves vs big humans .

So what is the visual effect you prefer ..;choices
