Magna list conversion
« on: September 22, 2020, 06:18:38 PM »
If list says pike 0 to 16. How many stands do I get ? Looks like the way it is written in rules I get 11, not enough for 2 TUGs .

As you say 2/3 of 16 rounded up would be 11 but I think I recall seeing a post somewhere where numbers like this were rounded up to the nearest even number but I might be getting confused with another rule set.  If that were right it would become 12, can't for the life of me find it now though.  That said, in Magna, again AFAIK, Tugs of 6 become 4.  If we were playing we'd just use the number as 12 (given 11 is closer to 12 than 11 is to 8 ).  I see the 2/3 as an approximate guide which needs to be tempered by playability. That said, in Magna, again AFAIK, Tugs of 6 (if that's the only option) become 4.

In Magna units of 9 or more and TuGs of Pike in 8s, become 6's.
I am looking at the possibility of creating Magna sets  (easier than trying to incorporate Magna TuG sizes mins and maxs into the current lists).

The max of 11s do need to become 12s in these circumstances.

Yes, I would allow 2 TuGs.  When converting lists to Magna a bit of common sense is required.

I must admitt when I look at it there are numerous questions about those magna or pacto lists .

Perhaps something could be done such as putting all wuestions and answers in one post , well one for magna, one for pacto ...

I think the Magna List option as mentioned would be a great idea.  Of course in a lot of cases the 2/3 conversion works, in some cases you need some interpretation, such as max 6 with TUGs of 4,6 needing to become TUGs of 2-3.  8-32 with Tugs of 8 becomes 6 (rounded up) - 22 with TUGs of 6, which if 6 is the only TUG option needs to be either 6-18 or 6-24.  So it gets kinda messy.
