Newbie Question regarding weapons upgrade

Hey folks,
I just picked up MeG and a Thracian army to give the rules a try. I have a questions. In the army list the Peltasts are armed with Short Spear as a melee weapon and have a shooting skill of a Unskilled Javelin. When I pay for the upgrade to arm them with the Rhomphaia do I lose both the Short Spear and the Javelin or just the Short Spear?
Sorry if this seams lie a stupid question but I just want to make sure I'm doing things correctly.

They are replacements, not additions. So taking rhomphaia removes both the short spear and the javelins.

Mighty fine troops they are too!
My Thracians are in the UK so alas can't use them at present.
