WHat did Kurdish lancers look like in the 1oth-12 centuries CE?

I have a reasonably large collection of Crusade-era Islamics. One often comes across references to Kurdish cavalry in the sources, and they are lancers in lots of the lists.

My latest project is Eastern Seljuks. I wanted to paint some Kurdish lancers, but could not find a figure I liked. I finally went with the Blue Moon armored Arab lancer, with a turban, round shield, mail, etc. How badly have I blown it? I wonder it my choice was anywhere near close. DOes anyone know?

I had this problem when I did my Syrian army in 20mm plastics, and never found a satisfactory answer.

By the Ottoman period they looked Turkish, with rather fat and large turbans, but that probably doesn't help.

I don't think we have anything positively identified as being of a Kurd. I think about all we really know is that they tended to be more heavily armoured than the Arabs and favoured swords in combat.

Thanks for the thoughtful responses. I'll keep painting. That way,Murphy's law being what it is, as soon as I finish, a new manuscript will be unearthed showing they looked totally different.
