Question has been asked on Whatsapp - does an UG subjected to a forced charge have to charge at the UG that forces the charge or can it choose a direction that charges another UG?

I believe the following gives the answer.

Specifically where its says "TuGs with any bases that are charging lancer or devastating chargers must make a forced charge at enemy TuGs (except flexibles in SuG form) within 3BW directly ahead, unless they are themselves missile focused."

My bold emphasis.

It says the forced charge must be at the triggering TUS(s).

The charge can, however, also wheel as per:

SP 2.3

Therefore, IMO, combining these whilst you can choose the direction the charge must still be hitting what triggered it.

I would agree with Nik's assessment, with the proviso that if you play a card you can turn a forced charge into a prompted charge and then charge in any direction.

I agree that you can wheel a forced or free charge but said charge needs to be _at_ the cause of the trigger. Other charges are perfectly possible but they must be paid for.
