James IV Scottish changes
« on: December 31, 2018, 12:41:31 PM »
Just saw James IV Scottish (Italian Wars book) has changed. (See attachment).   Shield Cover + FA doesn't make sense --> I thought using Shield Cover granted you FA anyway for shooting purposes...?

Perhaps the Shield Cover is meant to be for the 3/4 troops, not the 1/4 FA?

Cheers,
Dru

The list is as intended.
These represents the Pavises on top of the armour that James IV introduced for his pikemen.

Shield Cover increases the target dice armour level by one.  The intention (and it should be added to the notes) is that this will it downgraden the dice by a further level.

Will add a note to the errata.

Ok just to make sure I understand:

1. Normally, per Characteristics under Shield Cover in section 4 (s4), “Shield Cover increases the target dice armour level by one from Unprotected to Protected, or Protected to Fully Armoured“.

2. However in this case Shield Cover is given to bases  that already have Fully Armoured so get no benefit under the rules as written.

3. A special errata will therefore be introduced for this list where the Shield Cover benefit replaces s4 in the Shield Cover Characteristiscs to note it instead provides a benefit of reducing the shooting  dice by a further step down.

4. I presume the rest of the Shield Cover sections remains the same.

5. Again presume Shield Cover used with a special exception errata rather than Pavise (despite Pavise being specifically mentioned as the kit) so the unit doesn’t receive the +1 in charge combat bonus?
