For my understanding, all 3 Japanese lists can have Murakami Clan allies and it specifically states in the coloured line ' MIXED TuG of 1/3 samurai (...) and TUG of ½ samurai' (...)'
Is this difference intended, as the special rule states : Samurai in MIXED TuGs may only shoot in one rank. So does it mean it can shoot in 2 ranks if TUG of ½  samurai ?

Also I noticed there are no skirmishers in the list, is this an oversight ?  FYI, the Takeda Screen show Samurai Archers ahead of the Ashigaru Archers, operate some distance from the main body as 'skirmishers', acting as sharpshooters and snipers.

Thx for the clarification.

No, the samurai can only shoot in 1 rank no matter how the UG is deployed. There are no exceptions, it means what it says  ;D

Might be something that is missing if there were enough of them to justify a unit as opposed to a few "heros" sniping away. One for a list amendment proposal perhaps - pop your evidence up for consideration  8)

This might be the ritual archery contest before the battle, where the leaders of each force call out his lineage then shoots a Ya towards the other leaders only if both force had the same level of linage would the battle start, this did not always happen.

I think the question is about the two types of TUG.

One is called "MIXED TUG" (1/3 Samurai, 2/3 not)
The other one is just called "TUG" but happens to be mixed (half Samurai, half not).

The question is: does the rule applying to mixed tugs apply to both or just to the one formally labelled as "MIXED" ?
