Shooting at unprotected

Rules say get bonus if shooting at unprotected TUG or unprotected SUG <= 1BW

Does that mean that in EITHER case you have to be within 1BW to get the bonus OR does the <= 1BW only apply to the SUG?   There is no comma in the rules so i read it as applying to both but the example on the next page shooting between immortals and Levy implies that is not the case......  possibly.....

thanks for that. Not how I 1st read it but increasingly I was suspecting that was what was intended. Probably a comma in the main book would help there.

I'll make a note for next time.  the rationale is that foot squished together are always vulnerable.  Skirmsihers spread out get vulnerable when the range drops suffiicient that you can target an individual rather than a general area.  A good reason to stay at range if possible if in a nice open formation.
