Just tought about it :

crossbowmen standing to receive inflict a wound on a "S"

Skilled crowwbowmen inflict a wound on sup UG on a "S"

So better to face non SUP enemies charging you

Which is quite cool I think as all crossbowmen get the S when charged so the skill doens't matter so much point blank.
