M9 90 degree turn on the spot

Pages 97 and 103 of the rules compendium each has an example of a unit turning 90 degrees about the right hand front corner of the right hand element. Is there anything to stop such a unit turning right using the right corner of the left hand element, essentially ending the move a base width further 'west'?

I ask because I had a situation where a TUG of close formation foot was in the position where if it turned on the right hand element it had the choice of either expanding 'north' into difficult terrain which I didn't want to do or if it expanded 'south' it would contact an enemy TUG that it wasn't touching at the start of the move, which per the rules on page 132 isn't allowed.

It's

just

not

done!

No, good question. The rules are remarkably silent on the exact mechanics of doing a turn, or even how you wheel. Where does it say that you can only wheel on the two outside front corners? Nowhere, frankly, but I would never consider wheeling on any other points than these two. (And I'm not even a greybeard like Nik and Richard.) Likewise, I would only ever expect a 90° turn to be done on the front corners, swapping front/side baselines with each other - like it's shown in the book.

Turns only on the corner element.

Worth remembering a move can include the universal 1/2 base shift to avoid terrain.
