Viking List and the Proper use of Berserkers

Played a game with a friend who ran Vikings  and the following came up for clarification:
A unit that has Berserkers must have them in 2 ranks on the same file for the ENTIRE unit to have Devastating Charge OR are Vikings a SPECIAL list that gets Devastating Charge bonus with only 1 element of Berserkers in the unit which I assume Must be in the front rank???

Can a Viking list unit that has 1 element of Berserkers in the front rank get Shatter WITHOUT initially having 2 elements of Berserkers at the start of the Combat OR is this another special rule for Viking units with 1 element of Berserkers??

The normal rules apply, there is no special rule for Viking berserkers.

Only the file can claim the benefit, not the entire UG.  The UG however may be subject to forced charges.

The file may need to be in 2 ranks to obtain a combat claim, but a single front rank is sufficient if you get an S/Skull to claim the Shatter result.
